Week of 24th October, 2026: fomo at work, inflammation management
Work #
I was hoping to spend this week working on gaining an intuition for the layers in which building observability is natural and useful. Unfortunately I spent half a day on this, and then had to go back to evals work (which I love! But I was looking forward to the new thing) involving the math around runs, intuiting noise in a run, separating out each grader into its constituent parts, etc. Except then I couldnāt even do that properly because I was sick most of the week. Weāre moving on to a new prototype at work in the midst of this and Iāve had lots of fomo and been annoyed because being sick has kept me out of lots of fun conversations and work. #
Iām mildly stuck on a few blog posts: two for evals, the giant that is the delhi blog post, and a few more in my head. Posts and post ideas come easy to me these days, i just need to make the time for it. #
Health #
I had an itch in my throat starting Wednesday morning and so I did everything in my power to make things better. Updated the care document with some of this because I had forgotten the order and all the options available to me. I think I escaped the worst of it (mostly no fever) but I had really bad low BP spells and needed to be handed food once which was embarrassing and annoying. #
I also had to go to my allergist because appointments are very hard to come by. The appointment was for just I was recovering and unfortunately I think it really set me back :( more bad news is that Iām not responding as well as I should to the immunology treatment. Thatās likely because of my bodyās propensity to be inflammed⦠But this means i need to now get back into micromanaging it and that thought is exhausting. For example, i might have to go back to gfdf. #
\*gets on the floor and kicks and screams\* #
One good thing this week has been that I have confirmed how good and easy a simple thing like looking up on YouTube 10 minute yoga routine for when youāre sick is for my body. I also did some cooking because I was being specific in my desires for soup. #
Life #
Last weekend was really social! I am posting this weeknote at this time entirely because of the tareefen i got from going to iwc last Saturday after posting that one š #
I went to a gig at social Saturday night because a friend was organising it and another friend was DJing! I was really tired and almost didnāt go but a third friend who never dances and rarely does gigs promised to dance with me so I couldnāt say no. And I went. It was tiring, I had fun, met so many familiar faces after a while (including at the after party!) but my god⦠fuck social indiranagar. Of the 12 people I know and met, 8 -eight!!!!- have fallen sick. I didnāt even drink!!! Very, very mad about this. I will be avoiding social indiranagar gigs where I can moving forward - if I canāt (i do want to support artists friend and producer friends etc) i will not even be drinking water there (because thatās really all I did). #
Other lowlights: #
cancelled 4 different casual social hangs on account of sickness and infectiousness. #
Someone I knew from the regular community/dev/tech policy circuit passed away earlier this week. I didnāt know them well, but they have been a fixture in the scene since I was 20 years old. it feels a little surreal that they wonāt be around any more. It feels most surreal because I met them two weeks ago! They came to Recurse Center co-working and talked about a proposal they were writing and work they have been wanting to do. And just like that, theyāre gone now. #
Im not sure how grief like this should be handled, or thought about. Im glad we talked about it and about him on the day of coworking as a group. Community is so important in helping regulate some of these things. #
A friend is giving up their house and vagabonding for a few months. So at the end of this very long Tuesday, I had 16 boxes in my loft! I did none of the heavy lifting - literally. But it feels good to be able to offer home and space to people. #
Learning #
This heading feels a little superfluous now - because most of the effort I put into anything these days is learning. Ive made it so that Iām learning on the job more effectively and in parallel to execution. Same with any other kind of reading or hobbies Iām doing. #

Listening #
Chutney Mary played an Imogen Heap inspired set which tells me I need to listen to more of her. Daisho incorporated k pop into his very lush, drip set which I adored. There might be acid techno out there which works for me. I havenāt found it yet but it might exist somewhere. New lisa album Iām pretty excited about. Really enjoyed exactly one The Avalanches album. Rohini told me about The Chicks - i canāt believe Iāve just not listened to them before. #
